  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely diced fresh apple

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, butter, and light corn syrup.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  5. Continue to boil without stirring for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and vanilla extract.
  7. Carefully pour the hot caramel mixture over the popcorn.
  8. Toss gently with a spatula until the popcorn is evenly coated.
  9. Add the diced apple and toss again to distribute.
  10. Spread the popcorn mixture in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  11. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes, until the popcorn is dry and crisp.
  12. Let cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking apart and serving.
