Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (14.1 ounces) refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on package
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 3 cups thinly sliced peeled baking apples (such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji)
  • 1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Unroll one pie crust and press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Stir until well combined.
  4. Add the sliced apples to the butter mixture and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Pour the apple mixture over the crust in the pan.
  6. Drizzle the caramel topping over the apples.
  7. Unroll the second pie crust and place it over the caramel and apples. Crimp the edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For a crispier topping, you can sprinkle a little extra granulated sugar on the top crust before baking.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
