  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Transfer the browned beef to your slow cooker.
  3. Add the chopped onion, bell peppers, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and tomato sauce to the slow cooker.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Stir well before serving.
