Shrimp Alfredo Pasta with Jarred Sauce

This recipe offers a quick and delicious shrimp alfredo using convenient jarred pasta sauce, perfect for a weeknight meal.

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) jar Alfredo sauce
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 pound fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the Alfredo sauce and milk or cream. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet with the sauce.
  8. Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
  9. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  10. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sauté a chopped shallot with the garlic.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little more milk or pasta water until desired consistency.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or sun-dried tomatoes.
