Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb salmon fillet, skin removed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional, for heat)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 mini slider buns or Hawaiian rolls
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • For Garnish: thinly sliced green onions, shredded cabbage slaw

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, grated ginger, sesame oil, honey or maple syrup, sriracha (if using), minced garlic, and black pepper. This is your marinade.
  2. Place the salmon fillet in a shallow dish. Pour half of the marinade over the salmon. Let it marinate for 15 minutes. Reserve the remaining marinade for basting.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Place the marinated salmon on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  5. While the salmon bakes, lightly toast the inside of the slider buns under the broiler for 1 minute.
  6. Remove the salmon from the oven. Gently flake the cooked salmon into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with 1 tablespoon of the reserved marinade. This creates your sauce.
  8. Assemble the sliders: Spread the sesame-ginger sauce onto both halves of each bun.
  9. Top the bottom bun with a portion of the flaked salmon.
  10. Garnish each slider with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds, shredded cabbage slaw, and sliced green onions. Place the top bun on.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy the flavor!

Notes

  • If you prefer grilling, cook the salmon on a lightly oiled grill grate over medium heat for 4-5 minutes per side, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through.
  • For a quick slaw, toss shredded cabbage with a squeeze of lime juice and a tiny bit of extra sesame oil.
  • You can substitute pork tenderloin or ground chicken for salmon if needed, adjusting the cooking time accordingly.
