Close-up of two perfectly cooked, flaky Ridiculously Good Air Fryer Salmon fillets with a caramelized, seasoned crust on a white plate.

This recipe provides a simple method for cooking salmon fillets in the air fryer to achieve a moist interior and slightly crisp exterior using a simple garlic butter glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a better exterior texture.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, and dried dill.
  3. Brush the top and sides of the salmon fillets with olive oil. Season evenly with salt and pepper.
  4. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the top of each fillet.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, skin-side down if using skin-on portions. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  7. Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. Thicker fillets (over 1 inch) may require 13-14 minutes.
  8. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  9. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For thicker salmon portions (1.5 inches or more), start checking for doneness at 10 minutes.
  • If you prefer a crispier skin, place the fillets skin-side down and cook for the first 8 minutes before adding the glaze for the final cook time.
  • You can substitute the glaze ingredients with your favorite store-bought sauce or a simple soy-ginger mix.
