Make delicious, cheesy One-Pan Baked Ziti with Sausage. This simple recipe cuts down on cleanup by cooking everything together. It is perfect for a busy weeknight when you still want that comforting pasta bake flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 (10 ounce) package ziti pasta, uncooked
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet or the baking dish itself, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir the uncooked ziti, ricotta cheese, marinara sauce, water, oregano, salt, and pepper into the sausage mixture. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Cover the skillet or baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove the foil. Sprinkle the Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
  7. Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pasta is tender.
  8. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use sweet or spicy Italian sausage based on your preference.
  • If you do not have an oven-safe skillet, assemble everything in the baking dish after browning the sausage in a separate pan.
  • Adding a pinch of red pepper flakes before baking gives a nice little kick.
