Nectarine Crisp

This Nectarine Crisp recipe offers a delightful blend of sweet, juicy nectarines with a satisfyingly crunchy topping. It’s a perfect dessert for any occasion, especially when nectarines are in season, providing a taste of summer in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large nectarines, sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced nectarines, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the nectarines evenly.
  3. Pour the nectarine mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it in an even layer.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and salt.
  5. Add the cold butter pieces to the oat mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the nectarine mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the nectarines are bubbly and tender.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the nectarine filling.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
  • This crisp is also delicious with a mix of peaches and nectarines.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
