Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a mini donut pan or muffin tin.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan or muffin tin, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the donut holes cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the donut holes cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.
  9. Once the donut holes are completely cool, dip them into the glaze or drizzle the glaze over them.
  10. Add festive sprinkles if desired.
  11. Serve and enjoy your homemade gingerbread donut holes!

Notes

  • For a stronger gingerbread flavor, you can add an extra 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • If you don’t have a mini donut pan, you can use a regular muffin tin; the baking time may be slightly longer.
  • The glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
