Scale
  • 1 pound cubed cooked ham
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar or a mix)
  • 12 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup bread cubes (optional, for texture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Scatter the cubed ham evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the ham layer. If using, distribute the bread cubes over the cheese.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, dry mustard powder, salt, and pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
  5. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham, cheese, and bread in the baking dish, making sure the liquid soaks into all areas.
  6. Cover the dish loosely with foil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes covered.
  8. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and lightly golden brown on top.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss cheese for Cheddar for a different flavor profile.
  • For extra flavor, add 1/2 cup of diced onion or bell pepper with the ham.
  • This casserole reheats beautifully for quick weekday breakfasts.
