Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar or sweetener (to taste)
  • 1 shot espresso (optional)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Dash of cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee strong; set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, cocoa powder, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
  3. Heat the milk mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until warm and just beginning to steam. Do not boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Whisk in the sugar or sweetener until dissolved.
  5. Pour the brewed coffee (and espresso shot, if using) into your mug.
  6. Pour the warm, spiced milk mixture over the coffee. Stir well.
  7. Top your Gingerbread Mocha with a generous swirl of whipped cream.
  8. Garnish with a light dash of cinnamon before you enjoy your Sunday Flavor moment.

Notes

  • Adjust the spices to match your preferred level of gingerbread intensity.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • You can froth the milk mixture before adding it to the coffee for a lighter texture.
