Garlic Butter Ahi Tuna

This recipe for Garlic Butter Ahi Tuna delivers a rich and flavorful experience, perfect for a special weeknight dinner or entertaining guests. Ahi tuna steaks are seared to perfection and coated in a luscious garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for your desired doneness. Remove tuna from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. If using, deglaze the pan with white wine, scraping up any browned bits. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly reduced.
  6. Stir in lemon juice and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Return the tuna steaks to the skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over them.
  8. Cook for another 30 seconds to warm the tuna through.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • You can substitute other fresh herbs like chives or dill for parsley.
  • Ensure your skillet is hot before adding the tuna to achieve a nice sear.
