Ingredients

Scale
  • 29 ounces canned sliced peaches in light syrup, undrained
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pour the undrained canned peaches into a 9-inch cast iron skillet or an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. If using, stir in the cinnamon.
  4. Pour the batter evenly over the peaches in the skillet. Do not stir.
  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cobbler comes out clean.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen peaches instead of canned. If using fresh, you may need to add a little sugar to them before baking.
  • Adjust cinnamon to your preference.
  • For a richer flavor, you can brown the butter before adding it to the batter.
