Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is very tender.
  5. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and place it in a large bowl.
  6. Use two forks to shred the chicken completely.
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir well to coat it with the remaining sauce.
  8. Cook on warm for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/2 chopped onion to the slow cooker before cooking.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking on high.
  • This chicken freezes well for future meals.
