Close-up of a white bowl filled with bright, chunky peach salsa, featuring diced peaches, red onion, and cilantro.

Whip up this fresh peach salsa in just 10 minutes. It delivers a perfect sweet and spicy kick, making it ideal for scooping with tortilla chips or topping grilled chicken and fish tacos. This is the best homemade salsa for your next summer BBQ.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups ripe peaches, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (use 2 for extra heat)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup corn kernels (fresh or thawed)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder for smoky flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Dice the peaches, finely dice the red onion, and mince the jalapeño. Remember to remove seeds from the jalapeño unless you want significant heat.
  2. Combine the ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the diced peaches, red onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, and lime juice.
  3. Season the salsa: Add salt to taste and mix everything gently until just combined. If you are adding corn or chipotle powder, mix them in now.
  4. Rest the salsa: For the best flavor, let the salsa sit for at least 10 minutes before serving. This allows the zesty lime juice to meld with the sweet peaches.
  5. Serve immediately: Present this healthy fruit condiment with tortilla chips, or use it as a fresh topping for grilled chicken or tacos.

Notes

  • For a restaurant style peach salsa texture, pulse the ingredients lightly in a food processor instead of chopping everything by hand. Do not over-process.
  • If you are making this ahead of time, add the lime juice but hold off on adding the cilantro until just before serving to keep the color bright.
  • If fresh peaches are not in season, you can use frozen peaches, thawed and drained well.
