deep fried marshmallows

Deep-fried marshmallows offer a crispy exterior and a gooey, melted interior. They are a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large marshmallows
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cold water until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Heat about 3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Carefully dip each marshmallow into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
  5. Gently place the coated marshmallows into the hot oil, a few at a time, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  6. Fry for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Remove the marshmallows with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature for best results.
  • Do not overcrowd the pot; fry in batches if necessary.
  • Serve these immediately for the best texture.
