Deconstructed Sushi Bowls

Create your own deconstructed sushi bowls with fresh ingredients. These bowls are simple to assemble and full of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice, cooked
  • 1/2 lb sashimi-grade tuna or salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 nori sheets, cut into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup pickled ginger
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • For the Spicy Mayo:
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • For the Soy Ginger Dressing:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sushi rice according to package directions. Let cool slightly.
  2. Arrange the cooked sushi rice in the bottom of two bowls.
  3. Artfully arrange the sliced fish, cucumber, avocado, nori strips, and pickled ginger over the rice.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice for the spicy mayo. Drizzle over the bowls.
  5. In another small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and sesame oil for the soy ginger dressing. Drizzle over the bowls.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your customizable sushi bowl.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots, edamame, or radishes.
  • You can use different types of fish or add cooked shrimp or tofu for variety.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha in the spicy mayo to your preferred spice level.
