Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces dried pasta (like penne or rotini)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the pot with the beef. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the dried pasta to the boiling liquid.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and butter until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste the pasta and add more salt or pepper if needed. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a high protein pasta dinner, use lean ground beef.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let the pasta sit uncovered for an extra 2 to 3 minutes after stirring in the cream.
  • You can substitute the beef broth with chicken broth if needed for this family friendly beef meal.
