Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole

Make Christmas morning easy with this simple Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole. You assemble it the night before and bake it fresh for a crowd-pleasing holiday breakfast.

  • 1 (12.5 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls, icing reserved
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters.
  3. Arrange the cut cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the dish.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove the plastic wrap.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Let the casserole cool slightly. Drizzle the reserved icing over the top before serving warm.

Notes

  • Prepare this casserole the night before to save time on Christmas morning.
  • For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
  • If the top browns too quickly, loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
