Whip up these delightful Candy Cane Brownie Bars for a festive holiday treat. They’re fudgy, chocolatey, and have a perfect hint of peppermint.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes (about 10-12 standard candy canes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the top of the batter.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  10. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, you can add a drizzle of melted white chocolate over the cooled bars.
  • Make sure your candy canes are finely crushed for an even distribution of flavor.
