Make a creamy, tangy special sauce at home that tastes like your favorite diner’s secret spread. This sauce is fast to prepare and perfect for smash burgers or dipping fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon White Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until the sauce is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Add a pinch more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tang.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Use generously on your smash burgers or serve as a dip for fries.

Notes

  • For a Big Mac style sauce, finely chop any larger pieces of relish before mixing.
  • You can substitute dill pickle relish for sweet pickle relish if you prefer a less sweet sauce, but you may need to increase the sugar slightly.
  • This sauce keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
