This recipe offers a classic brown sugar glazed spiral ham, perfect for holiday gatherings and special occasions. Chloe Thompson from Finding My Sunday Flavor shares her simple yet delightful approach to creating a moist and flavorful ham with a sweet, caramelized glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5-7 pound) fully cooked spiral-cut ham
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Place the ham, cut-side down, in a roasting pan.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, pineapple juice, cinnamon, and cloves until well combined.
  4. Brush about half of the glaze over the ham.
  5. Cover the ham loosely with foil.
  6. Bake for 1 hour.
  7. Remove the foil and brush the remaining glaze over the ham.
  8. Continue baking, uncovered, for another 30-60 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
  9. Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes before carving and serving.

Notes

  • For a moister ham, you can baste it with its own juices during the last hour of baking.
  • If you don’t have pineapple juice, orange juice or even water can be used as a substitute.
  • Adjust the spices to your preference. A pinch of nutmeg or ginger can also be added.
