Big Mac Smash Tacos: 1 Genius, Joyful Bite

Big Mac Smash Tacos

Big Mac Smash Tacos combine the classic flavors of a Big Mac in a fun, easy-to-make taco format. Thin burger patties are smashed onto tortillas, cooked until crispy, and then topped with traditional Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, and pickles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 fat ratio recommended)
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
  • 4 slices American cheese, quartered
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle slices
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the Big Mac Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped dill pickles or pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles/relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and sugar. Stir well until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Set aside.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and gently form them into loose balls.
  3. Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  4. Place one tortilla in the hot skillet. Immediately place a beef ball on top of the tortilla. Using a spatula or a burger press, firmly smash the beef ball thinly and evenly over the entire surface of the tortilla. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is browned and crispy on the edges.
  6. Carefully flip the taco over so the beef side is now facing up. Place a quartered slice of American cheese on top of the cooked beef. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is slightly crispy.
  7. Remove the taco from the skillet and transfer to a plate. Repeat with the remaining beef and tortillas.
  8. Assemble the tacos: Spoon a generous amount of Big Mac sauce over the melted cheese. Top with shredded lettuce, chopped onion, and dill pickle slices.
  9. Fold the taco in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Using a good quality non-stick pan is key for easy smashing and flipping.
  • Do not overwork the ground beef when forming the balls; this can make the patties tough.
  • Adjust the amount of Big Mac sauce and toppings to your preference.
  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly toast the tortilla in the dry skillet before adding the beef.
