Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Enjoy a delicious and easy Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry, just like your favorite takeout, made right in your own kitchen. This recipe brings tender beef and crisp broccoli together in a flavorful savory soy-garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. If using, add the oyster sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Toss everything together to coat evenly in the sauce.
  8. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly and the broccoli is tender-crisp.
  9. Stir in the sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve hot, perhaps with steamed rice.

Notes

  • For extra tender beef, you can freeze it slightly before slicing.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic and ginger to your preference.
  • If you don’t have oyster sauce, you can omit it or use a bit more soy sauce.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots.
