Ingredients
Scale
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons fresh strawberry puree
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a doughnut pan, or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the doughnuts cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more puree if needed to reach desired consistency.
Dip the cooled doughnuts into the glaze, or drizzle it over them. Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
Ensure your strawberries are ripe for the best flavor in the glaze.
You can adjust the amount of strawberry puree to control the intensity of the flavor and color of the glaze.
For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon to the doughnut batter.
