These baked ham and cheese croissants are simple, satisfying, and perfect for a quick breakfast or brunch. You get flaky croissants filled with savory ham and gooey melted cheese, ready fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 pre-made, refrigerated crescent rolls (or 4 large croissants)
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using crescent roll dough, separate the triangles. If using pre-made croissants, slice them in half horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.
  3. Spread about 1/4 teaspoon of Dijon mustard on the inside of the bottom half of each croissant or roll.
  4. Layer one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on top of the mustard on the bottom half.
  5. Place the top half of the croissant over the filling. If using crescent rolls, gently pinch the seams closed to seal the filling inside.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk the beaten egg with 1 teaspoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the assembled croissants lightly with the egg wash. This helps them brown nicely.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For an extra savory flavor, you can brush the tops with melted butter instead of the egg wash.
  • You can substitute Gruyère or Provolone for Swiss cheese based on your preference for melted cheese.
  • This recipe works well for a quick weeknight dinner shortcut when you need comfort food fast.
