Apple Cider Donuts

Whip up a batch of delicious homemade apple cider donuts that taste just like they came from your favorite bakery. These donuts are tender, flavorful, and perfect for a cozy fall treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or a mini muffin pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the egg, apple cider, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the donuts are cooling, prepare the topping. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  9. Once the donuts are completely cool, dip each donut into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
  10. Serve and enjoy your freshly made apple cider donuts!

Notes

  • For a stronger apple flavor, you can use a reduced apple cider by simmering it until it’s about half the original volume.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use a mini muffin tin. The baking time might be slightly shorter.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days.
