The Ultimate Crispy Garlic Parmesan Air Fryer Gnocchi

Cook shelf-stable or refrigerated gnocchi in the air fryer until the outside is golden and crisp while the inside remains soft and fluffy. Finish with garlic and Parmesan cheese for a quick snack or side dish.

  • 1 (16 ounce) package shelf-stable or refrigerated potato gnocchi
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the gnocchi in a medium bowl. If using refrigerated gnocchi, do not boil them first.
  2. Drizzle the olive oil over the gnocchi and toss gently to coat evenly.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this mixture over the oiled gnocchi and toss again until seasoned.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (199°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Transfer the seasoned gnocchi to the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Air fry for 10 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously halfway through cooking, until the gnocchi are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the crispy gnocchi from the air fryer and immediately place them back into the mixing bowl.
  8. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot gnocchi and toss quickly so the cheese melts slightly onto the surface.
  9. Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the gnocchi with cooking spray before seasoning instead of using oil.
  • If you prefer a softer coating, toss the cooked gnocchi with 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce or pesto after adding the Parmesan.
  • Frozen gnocchi can be used, but you may need to add 2-3 minutes to the total cook time.
