A pile of golden brown Air Fryer Chicken Strips served with a small bowl of yellow honey mustard dipping sauce.

Make crispy, flavorful chicken strips in your air fryer and serve them with a simple, homemade honey mustard dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • Cooking spray
  • For the Honey Mustard:
  • 0.5 cup Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken strips dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. Place flour in the first dish. Whisk the eggs in the second dish. Mix the Panko breadcrumbs, remaining salt, pepper, and paprika in the third dish.
  3. Dredge each chicken strip first in the flour, shaking off excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off. Finally, press the strip firmly into the Panko mixture to coat completely.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the coated chicken strips in a single layer in the basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Spray the tops of the chicken strips lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping the strips halfway through the cooking time, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C).
  7. While the chicken cooks, prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, and apple cider vinegar until smooth.
  8. Serve the hot air fryer chicken strips immediately with the homemade honey mustard sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispy strips, you can lightly spray the breaded strips again just before placing them in the air fryer.
  • If you prefer a spicier sauce, add a dash of cayenne pepper to the honey mustard mixture.
  • If you are making a large batch, keep cooked strips warm in a 200°F oven while you finish the remaining batches.
